I have released an app on the App Store.

It is an expense tracker that you can talk to. Not typing your expenses by hand each time you purchase something or trying to remember everything by the end of the day, but simply talking them into your phone. A locally run speech-to-text model will transcribe your record, while a second locally run model reads the text and turns it into an amount, a category and a description.

Users can choose to run a native transcription service by Apple or the more sophisticated Whisper Small, graciously fine-tuned for the Swedish language by none other than Kungliga biblioteket. As for the parsing, the app ships SPENT Tagger: an encoder trained by us on top of KBLab’s Swedish BERT, released under CC0. It replaced the language model that did the job earlier — it is a fifth of the size, twice as fast, and it does not invent expenses out of sentences that merely contain a number.

This app stores no data remotely. Sends no data to outside servers. Stores everything locally on your phone, which means that you are able to export your expenses as .csv or .json, if ever needed.

As of now, the app is only available in Swedish (including transcription).

Please welcome and check it out.
